REASONS FOR DECISION
On 17 December 2010, an application was lodged by the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000, (MASSA), pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award with respect to Clause 7 - Definitions of Part I - APPLICATION AND OPERATION OF THE AWARD re the Tasmanian Academy.
A hearing commenced in Hobart on 21 December 2010. At the hearing Mr M Watson appeared for the MASSA. Mr C Lane appeared for the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch. Both of the above gave oral submissions in support of the application.
I am satisfied that the variation is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act.
The order reflecting this decision, with an operative date from 1 January 2011, is attached.
