Award variation - special allowance - ffpp on or after 17/2/11 - award consolidated
REASONS FOR DECISION
[1] On 21 February 2011, an application was lodged by the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch, (AEU) pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award. The application sought to vary Clause 8 - Special Allowance to reflect the duties and responsibilities of employees holding positions at:
• Hagley Farm School Environment Centre
• Woodbridge Marine Study Centre
• Mt Cameron Field Study Centre
• Special classes
[2] A hearing commenced in Hobart on 3 March 2011. At the hearing Mr C Lane appeared for the AEU. Ms D Crespan of the Department of Education appeared for the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000. Both of the above gave oral submissions in support of the application.
[3] I am satisfied that the variation is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act. The order reflecting this decision, with an operative date from the first full pay period to commence on or after 17 February 2011, is attached.
