Industrial agreement variation - salaries - application approved - operative date ffpp on or after 1/3/11

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] This application, lodged pursuant to s.59 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 by the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch, was for the purpose of filing a variation to an industrial agreement with the Commission.

[2] A hearing commenced in Hobart on Thursday 3 March 2011 at 9.30 am.

[3] The variations to the Polytechnic and Skills Institute Teaching Staff Industrial Agreement 2011 are to be operative from the first full pay period on or after 1 March 2011.

[4] Mr C Lane, for the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch, and Ms A Milliss for the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000, presented submissions in support of the consent application.

[5] The parties advised that the application sought to vary the agreement by the inclusion of a new Schedule 1 - Salaries.

[6] Having considered the consent submissions of the parties, I am satisfied the agreement is consistent with the public interest and no disadvantage tests required by the Act, and I decide accordingly.

[7] An Order giving effect to the variation is attached.
