REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 6 June 2011, an application was lodged by the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000, (MASSA) pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary The Tasmanian State Service National Training Wage Award.  The application sought to vary Clause 12 – Wages.

[2] All parties to the application were notified of the time and date of the hearing by Notice of Hearing dated 16 June 2011.

[3] At the hearing in Hobart on 22 June 2011, Mr K Grey appeared for the MASSA.  Mr M Johnston appeared for the Community and Public Sector Union (SPSFT) Inc. and the Health Services Union of Australia (Tasmania No. 1 Branch).

[4] Mr Grey submitted that the application sought to vary wage rates in accordance with Fair Work Australia Determination PR997890.

[5] Mr M Johnston consented to the application.

[6] I am satisfied that the variation is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act.  The order reflecting this decision, with an operative date from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 August 2010, is attached.
