TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s23 application for award or variation of award

Police Association of Tasmania
(T13787 of 2011)

POLICE AWARD

DEPUTY PRESIDENT TIM ABEY
HOBART, 29 June 2011

Award variation - expense related and transfer allowances - operative date 29/6/11 - consent order issued - award consolidated

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 21 June 2011, an application was lodged by the Police Association of Tasmania, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Police Award with respect to expense related and transfer allowances.

[2] At the hearing in Hobart on 29 June 2011 Ms A Smith appeared for the Police Association of Tasmania and Mr T Martin appeared for the Commissioner of Police.

[3] Ms Smith submitted that the application sought to adjust monetary rates for allowances in accordance with Clauses 10.12 and 11.12(b) of the Police Award.  The adjustment reflects the change in the CPI of 3.3% for the 12 months ended March 2011.

[4] The application also sought to include Orford in Clause 9.4 - Country Police Station Allowance.

[5] Mr Martin consented to the application.

[6] I am satisfied that the variation is consistent with the public interest requirements of the Act.   The order reflecting this decision, with an operative date from 29 June 2011, is attached.
