Award variation – new Appendix 17 – DPEM Radio Dispatch Operators – effective from 30/3/13 - consent order issued – award consolidated

DECISION

(1) On 2 November 2012, The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc. (CPSU), applied to the President, pursuant to s.23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 (the Act) for a hearing before a Commissioner to vary the Tasmanian State Service Award by inserting a new Appendix 17 – Department of Police and Emergency Management Radio Dispatch Operators.

(2) This matter was joined with T13902 of 2012, an application under s29(1) of the Act by the CPSU in respect of an industrial dispute with the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000 (MASSA), Department of Police and Emergency Management (DPEM), arising out of the modes, terms and conditions of employment of Radio Dispatch Operators.

(3) A series of conferences and reports back were convened with a view to creating an agreed document.

(4) On 27 February 2013, Ms C Miller appeared for the CPSU with Mr N Duncombe.  Mr P Baker appeared for MASSA. Inspector G Keating appeared for DPEM with Ms H Jordan.  The parties presented to the Commission a signed agreed document, being a new Appendix 17 of the Tasmanian State Service Award, reflected in a consent order to follow with an operative date of 30 March 2013.

(5) Pursuant to Section 21[2][c] of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, I refrain from further hearing T13902 and the file is closed.
