TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union, MEAT TRADES AWARD
State Wage Case August 1991 - 2.5% increase - granted REASONS FOR DECISION These applications by The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union, Tasmanian Branch, sought the variation of the Meat Trades Award (T.3221 of 1991) and the Abattoirs Award (T.3222 of 1991) to reflect the 2.5% increase in wage rates and work-related allowances as provided for in the decision of the 13 August 1991 State Wage Case1. Other applications for the same purpose were made by The Federated Engine Drivers' and Firemen's Association of Australasia, Tasmanian Branch, The Building Workers' Industrial Union of Australia (Tasmanian Branch), and the Federation of Industrial, Manufacturing and Engineering Employees, Tasmania Branch; the latter in respect of the Abattoirs Award only. All matters were joined for hearing purposes. This was a consent matter with the parties satisfying the Commission that Principle 2 - Structural Efficiency, paragraph (a) to (g) had been complied with. Indeed when regard is had for the progress made in second instalment structural efficiency matters2 where the second instalment increase was awarded from May 1991 and the consultative mechanisms endorsed in these proceedings, the progress in the Meat Trades Award and the Abattoirs Award is satisfactory. In the circumstances the award will be varied operative from the first pay period to commence on or after 30 August 1991 subject to a written no extra claims commitment as set out in the 13 August 1991 State Wage Case decision. The orders are attached.
