Expense related allowances REASONS FOR DECISION This application by the Police Association of Tasmania (PAT) sought to adjust expense related allowances in the award to take account of Consumer Price Index movements for the twelve months ended 31 March 1992. Allowances in this award which fall into the category of 'expense related' are:
The parties have consented to varying the allowances concerned by 1.7% to figures currently applying. This movement represents the percentage change in the eight capital cities CPI movement for the period March 1991 to March 1992 (ABS Catalogue No 6401.8). It was submitted that the adjustment was in accordance with the Wage Fixing Principles and followed a recent decision of the Commission in relation to other public sector awards containing expense related allowance provisions1 Mr Kadziolka for PAT requested that the date of operation be 17 August 1992. Mr Ogle for the Commissioner of Police consented to the general terms of the application but submitted that the date of operation should be the date of the Commission's decision. As indicated on transcript this consent application is approved in the terms sought. The Association's request in relation to the date of operation is granted. Accordingly the award will be varied with effect from 17 August 1992. The order is attached.
