TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Minister for Public Sector Administration COMMUNITY AND HEALTH SERVICES (PUBLIC SECTOR) AWARD
Award variation - Clause 14 - Board and Lodging - consent matter - application approved - operative date ffpp 27 August 1996 REASONS FOR DECISION By this application, which is a matter of consent, the Minister for Public Sector Administration seeks to vary Clause 14 - Board and Lodging of the Community and Health Services (Public Sector) Award. The purpose of the variation is to increase by 3.7% the amounts that the employer authority may deduct from an employee's salary for board and lodging provided. The proposed increases reflect a Consumer Price Index upward movement of 3.7% in the Weighted Average of Eight Capitals - All Groups statistic for the period 1 April 1995 to 31 March 1996. The proposed award increases are also consistent with the decision of Watling C of 29 May 1996 concerning a variety of expense related allowances in the same award1. The parties present at the hearing jointly contended that, on the basis of the above history and having regard to Principle 9.1.1 concerning the adjustment of existing allowances that constitute a reimbursement of expenses, the proposed award variations satisfy both the requirements of the Wage Fixing Principles and the general public interest requirements of Section 36 of the Act. I accept the parties' submissions that the application is consistent with current Wage Fixing Principles. I will, therefore, vary the award in the manner set out in the draft order, effective from the first full pay period to commence on or after 27 August 1996. My Order to that end accompanies this decision.
