(T9957 of 2001)

 PRINTING AUTHORITY OF TASMANIA AWARD

COMMISSIONER P A IMLACH

HOBART, 25 JANUARY 2002

Award variation - Clause 8 - Salaries - award updated - application granted - operative ffpp 1/7/01

 REASONS FOR CONSENT ORDER

[1] This was an application made under section 23(1) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 (the Act) by the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing & Kindred Industries Union (the AFMEPKIU) for a variation to be made to the Printing Authority of Tasmania Award (the award).

[2] The AFMEPKIU sought to increase the rates of pay provided in the award.

[3] At the hearing of the application, the AFMEPKIU adverted to an industrial agreement which had been approved by the Commission at a hearing held immediately before this matter, T9979 of 2001[1]  (the agreement), and pointed out that the rates of pay provided for all employees covered by the award in the immediately preceding agreement, from which the parties had retired in accordance with Section 55(8) of the Act, now needed to be incorporated into the award to ensure that the award minimum wages prescriptions properly underpinned the rates of pay in the agreement.

[4] The AFMEPKIU requested approval of the application and all parties confirmed their agreement to it.

[5] I accept the submissions of the parties and I am satisfied that the variations sought comply with the requirements of the Principles of the Commission and the Act.

[6] The award will be varied as requested, operative from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 July 2001.

[7] An order is attached.
