Industrial agreement - agreement approved - operative ffpp commencing on or after 25/1/02 until 30/6/03 - forwarded to Acting Registrar for registration REASONS FOR DECISION [1] This was an application to the Acting Registrar for the filing of an industrial agreement, made jointly under Section 55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 (the Act) by the Printing Authority of Tasmania (the Printing Authority), the Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing & Kindred Industries Union and The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation) Tasmania; it was referred to the Commission for approval. [2] The agreement was to be known as the Printing Authority of Tasmania Industrial Agreement 2001 (the agreement): it was to operate from the first full pay period commencing on or after the date of registration until 30 June 2003. [3] A notice of Intention To Retire from Industrial Agreement, in accordance with Section 55(9) of the Act, was lodged by the Printing Authority. That notice referred to the Printing Authority of Tasmania Agreement approved by the Commission in matter T8612 of 1999 (the previous agreement). [4] Except for the introduction of a salary sacrifice clause (Clause 9) and increases in wage rates, the terms of the agreement were the same as those in the previous agreement. It was noted, however, that the improvement strategies clause remained and it contained provisions for continued efficiency improvements in a number of areas. [5] Increases in salary rates of 2% from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 July 2001, plus six-monthly 2% increases, based upon identifiable improvements, until the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 January 2003, were agreed. [6] The parties requested approval of the agreement. [7] I am satisfied that the terms of the agreement are not against the public interest, nor the principles of the Commission and the agreement is approved. [8] In accordance with Section 56 of the Act, the agreement will be referred to the Acting Registrar for registration.
