Industrial Relations Act 1984
Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch
COMMUNITY AND HEALTH SERVICES (PUBLIC SECTOR) AWARD
Award variation - district allowances - leave expenses - Bass Strait Islands - approved - operative date 12 April 2005
REASONS FOR DECISION
On 10 March 2005 an application was lodged by the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch pursuant to Section 23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, to vary the Community and Health Services (Public Sector) Award.
When this matter came on for hearing on 12 April 2005, Mr T Jacobson appeared for the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch and The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc. Mr R Clegg and Ms K Thomas appeared for the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000.
This application seeks to modify Clause 22 Leave Expenses - Bass Strait Islands and Clause 11 Allowances.
Mr Jacobson explained that the application reflected recent decisions of the Commission relating to the payment of District Allowances for employees in remote locations and payment of airfares for employees stationed on Bass Strait islands.1
Mr Clegg did not oppose the application.
I am satisfied that the application is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.
The application is granted operative from 12 April 2005.
The Order reflecting this decision is attached.
