COMMISSIONER JP McALPINE

HOBART, 9 March 2006

Variation of registered industrial agreement T12223 of 2005 - application approved - operative 9 March 2006

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 24 February 2006, the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch (the AEU) and the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000 (the Minister), lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 59 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, an application to vary the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Salaries and Conditions of Employment Agreement 2005.1

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 9 March 2006, Mr C Lane appeared for the AEU. Ms J Angel, Industrial and Employee Services, Human Resources Management, appeared for the Minister.

[3] The parties advised that the application sought to vary salaries contained within the agreement, with an operative date of 9 March 2006.

[4] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[5] Pursuant to s.59(2) of the Act, the variation to the agreement is approved operative from 9 March 2006.
