COMMISSIONER JP McALPINE

HOBART, 20 February 2007

Variation of registered industrial agreement T12223 of 2005 - application approved - operative on and from 22 February 2007

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 8 February 2007, the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch (the AEU) and the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000 (the Minister), lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 59 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, an application to vary the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Salaries and Conditions of Employment Agreement 2005.1

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 20 February 2007, Mr C Lane appeared for the AEU. Ms J Peterson with Mr M Watson, Industrial and Employee Services, Human Resources Management, appeared for the Minister.

[3] The parties advised that the application sought to vary salaries contained within the agreement, with an operative date on and from 22 February 2007.

[4] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act.

[5] Pursuant to s.59(2) of the Act, the variation to the agreement is approved operative on and from 22 February 2007.

[6] An Order giving effect to the variation is attached.
